About

Sri Lankan English Writers’ Review reviews English literary work by Sri Lankan writers, and some writers of the Sri Lankan diaspora. It is a non-partisan, non-affiliated platform managed by an independent group of literary researchers and critics. The group encourages and supports non-mollycoddling literary appreciation, sharp views, and in depth reading. It gives special focus to writers whose work have either been neglected or under-represented in mainstream fora.

In 2019, the forum – then, as a repository disseminating information on Sri Lankan writers – began operations with a focus quite removed from its present work. While some early resources have been retained in its archives the platform, at present, follows a more proactive line furnishing insights and critical knowledge needed for discussions on contemporary Sri Lankan literature outside the formal academy.

In its latest resolution, commencing in 2023, Sri Lankan English Writers’ Review is working towards knowledge-sharing and outreach through literary seminars and workshops on topics and focuses crucial to the sustaining of residential writing in Sri Lanka.
